The Price is Right:
This baby shower game is played very much like the
television game show! To prepare,
obtain about 20 baby items and keep track of their
selling prices. Good examples of items are: diapers,
formula, baby rattle, teething ring, baby powder,
baby lotion, receiving blanket, etc. To play the
game hold each item up individually so that everyone
can see what the item is. I do not recommend passing
the baby items around, because some things will have
suggested retail prices on them. Provide each guest
with paper and pencil, and have them write down
their guesses for the costs of these items. Once
everyone has written down their guesses, then pass
around calculators. Have them total their prices.
The guest with the product total closest to
your actual product total (not including tax)
is the winner! The mom-to-be will get all of these
items to take home with her.
However to add an element of surprise, after the
game has been played, very dramatically state that
you forgot one last baby item to price. Then you
roll out a very large gift to mom; like a stroller,
or baby crib, or fancy car seat, or maybe even a spa
vacation, or something really elaborate.
Particularly if mommy needed these things, she will
go absolutely nuts… So have a camera ready! |

Paper Bag Guesser:
I really like this baby shower game. You can either
play it in a table-set-up fashion, or as a
pass-around game. To prepare, place a baby item in
each of several small paper bags. Make sure there is
only one baby item to each bag. Tie each bag with a
ribbon so that no one may look inside. Let the
guests hold the bags and try their best to guess
what baby item is inside each bag. Award a prize to
the person with the most correct answers. |

What's My Name?
If the new parents have decided on their baby's name, then
you can have guests try to guess the name throughout
the party… Like the fairy-tale this can be sort of a Rumpelstilskin-type of game, particularly if the
name is difficult. But it’s loads of fun! The
parents can give hints as the party goes along. The
person that guesses the name wins a nice little
party prize. |
